Children of Discord is the second of the "Gastar" series of dark fantasy novellas about a teen assassin named Shevata traveling through the history of her home city of Gastar to seek redemption for her past actions and to re-claim her soul.
In the first novel of the series, "Act of Redemption," Shevata enters Gastar following a curse that removed her soul for killing an evil priest without a death order. She finds Gastar in ruins following a centuries-long war that she participated in and compounded with the entrance of the demon lord Zermon, who has plans to make the city part of his territory in hell. With the help of some warriors from the past and her mentor, the dragon Harathgus, the people rally together to save the city.
In Children of Discord, Shevata finds herself forced back into Gastar by a group of unlikely allies. She had been hunting the evil boy Goldeon in the underworld for cooperating with Zermon and for the murder of the mate of Harathgus. In the past two centuries, Gastar has grown from post-apocalyptic to a growing, thriving, but still under populated city. Unknown to the people, Shevata and Goldeon clash and set forth a series of events that endanger the population. Shevata begins to realize her estrangement from human society and takes steps to re-claim her humanity at the story's end.
The third novella, "Point of Return" is in the writing process at this time.
