Book review - Not Ordinarily Borrowable by Thomas Thurman
Not Ordinarily Borrowable: or, Unwelcome Advice by Thomas Thurman
Maria is occupied with trying to earn her doctorate, and she's far too busy for adventures. But when the library books she needs are unexpectedly borrowed (by a dragon) she finds herself on a quest to find the books, the dragon, a sword, courage, and the greatest cake recipe in the world... not to mention the last chapter of her thesis. An adventure for children of all ages.
Will's Review: I managed to get a copy of this interesting little book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The basic premise really captivated me. Here is it: What would you do if you went to the library to get a book and discovered that a dragon had been there earlier, wreaked havoc, and stole your book?
Would you chase after the dragon to recover the book?
Well, this is exactly what our main character Maria does and along the way she gathers the things she will need to face the dragon.
This is a thorougly enjoyable read, well written, and well thought out. If you are looking for a little something that is not very well known this is a good choice. I am looking forward to more writing from this author.
